Heledd Lewis wins the crown at Inter-collegiate Eisteddfod 2013

Congratulations to Heledd Lewis, one of the School’s students, who has won the crown at the Inter-collegiate Eisteddfod this year. The task at this year’s Eisteddfod was to write a series of free verse under 250 words each on the theme ‘Riot’.
Heledd created poems about wars all over the world in Ireland, Iraq, Lybia and Syria. She then focused on Wales, portraying young people from Wales fighting to keep the Welsh language alive. She emphasised the value of words rather than guns. ‘It was quite a surprise, I must admit’, she said, ‘but it is an honour to have won such a prestigious competition!’
