Rhiannon Marks is a lecturer teaching on the Welsh-language Sabbatical Scheme. Cardiff University is one of three establishments currently running the scheme which is funded by the Welsh Government. It offers the opportunity for Welsh-language and pedagogical training for those who wish to teach, lecture or train wholly or partially through the medium of Welsh or bilingually.
Rhiannon also contributes to language and literature undergraduate modules at the School.
Rhiannon hails from Cil-y-Cwm in Carmarthenshire. She graduated from Aberystwyth University before completing a Masters degree in Women’s Studies at Jesus College, Oxford. She returned to Aberystwyth to write a PhD on the work of Menna Elfyn experimenting with the ‘epistoraly criticism’ genre. Rhiannon has an interest in contemporary literature, literary theory and criticism and literary translation, and she enjoys writing creatively in her spare time. She won the crown at the 2007 Urdd Eisteddfod and has recently been appointed joint editor of Tu Chwith magazine.
