Reducing Energy and Water Consumption

The University participated in the Carbon Trust Higher Education Carbon Management Project and considered that it could reduce its carbon emissions for gas and electricity by 26,000 tonnes of carbon over the 5 year period 2006/7 to 2010/11, based on 2005/6 data. Significant progress towards this has already been made.

Our Initiatives to Achieve This

The University has produced a wide-ranging Carbon Management Plan, available under Our Performance. 

This is based on a range of initiatives agreed by the University’s Energy Steering Group, who are also monitoring performance against the target.
