Cardiff University delivers a comprehensive rugby programme providing players the opportunity to develop their rugby talent while studying for their degree.
Rugby is a focus sport at Cardiff University, with a dedicated member of staff responsible for the management and delivery of the complete rugby programme. This role is currently undergoing a recruitment process so we will be announcing a new Head of Rugby in due course.

Cardiff University Rugby currently runs 7 teams that compete in the British Universities Spots Association (BUSA) competitions.
BUSA and Rugby Development
The teams that are competing in BUSA are:
Cardiff University Mens – 4 teams (One is exclusively for fresher’s).
Cardiff Medics Mens – 2 teams.
Cardiff University Womens – 1 team.
Further development opportunities are available for players as Cardiff University Rugby has strong links with Cardiff RFC as well as various other professional and semi-professional clubs in South Wales.
Graduates and current students of Cardiff University who have progressed into professional rugby include Graham Price (Pontypool, Wales and British Lions), David Pickering (Llanelli, Neath and Wales), Robin Sowden-Taylor (Cardiff Blues and Wales), Rob Sidoli (Cardiff Blues and Wales) and Jamie Roberts (Cardiff Blues and Wales).
Player Recruitment and Selection
Cardiff University Rugby is keen to encourage talented rugby players to apply for admission to Cardiff University at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Although the rugby club cannot directly affect admissions it can offer information and advice to perspective players.
