Staff Sport
The University supports and encourages staff to enjoy time with colleagues and friends through participating in sport. The social aspects apart, the positive effects of exercise are clearly beneficial to the wellbeing of members of staff. All University staff automatically qualify for bronze level membership of both University Fitness Suites.
Badminton
The University Staff Badminton Club welcomes staff and postgraduates whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced player. Why not come and join us every Wednesday between 17.00 - 19.30 at the Cardiff University Sports Training Village - Talybont. The cost is ONLY £1.50 per person per session. This includes:
- The courts for 2.5 hours
- Social interaction
Things that you need to bring:
- Appropriate clothing
- Cardiff University Staff I.D. card
- Racquets are available for hire from reception.
- Shuttles can be purchased from £1.00

Football
Staff 7 a-side Football tournaments take place during semester times. Matches are played on the 3G pitch at Cardiff University Sports Training Village. Tournaments usually start around mid-October and the dates for 2012/13 will be announced shortly. Entry forms will be online and at Centre receptions when available.
Basketball
A friendly staff basketball game takes place on a weekly basis at the Cardiff Medical Centre Sports & Social Club. This has been going on for a number of years and is held on a Tuesday after work from 17:00 – 18:00, there is a £3 per head charge.
Whether you’re male or female an experienced player or just looking to get more active, new players are always welcomed.

Squash
The Squash Facilities are of a high standard and are located in the central Cathays Campus area. Any member of staff interested in reforming the Staff Squash Club should contact the Centre Manager at the Fitness & Squash Centre - Park Place.
Netball
A friendly staff netball game is now taking place every Wednesday evening from 19:30 -20:30 at the University Sports Training village - Talybont. This is mainly just for fun and a form of exercise that allows you to be part of a team and meet new friends throughout the University at a cost of just £2 per session.

Cardiff University Sport supports the Staff Running Club for both staff and post graduates who are looking for some regular outdoor exercise in the local parks. They are every Wednesday lunchtime. more...

Cardiff University Sport co-ordinates a variety of lunchtime walks for staff and post graduates who are looking for some regular outdoor exercise.

Cricket
The staff Cricket Club has a full fixture list over the summer season. The team compete in the Cardiff Willow League, a midweek competition and also have regular friendly matches against local clubs and other universities..

The Staff Association hold an annual golf tournament at a local Cardiff course. This friendly competition is a great way of meeting your fellow colleagues. The competition is run annually in June. For more information please contact:

Intramural Games
The Intramural Games programme at Cardiff is a large participation programme delivered by the Athletic Union and Cardiff University Sport. Currently leagues exist in 11aside and 7aside Football and Netball. The Games are open to undergraduate and postgraduate students who are not involved in the regular BUCS performance teams.
