20 June 2011
GB’s under-20 Women Basketball team continued their warm-up for the European Championship with a pair of home games against Netherlands on Friday and Saturday. The players have been training at Cardiff University Sport in preparation for their match at 5pm on Friday June 17th and 6pm the following day.
The team picked up their second straight victory as Netherlands were beaten 68-63 at Glamorgan Sports Park on Friday. With Katrin Chiemeka leading the way with 12 points, Britain never looked back after a good first half, leaving coach Damian Jennings happy with his side's performance.
Following this victory the GB under-20’s suffered a blow in their European Championship preparations as they went down 81-59 against the same team on Saturday. Against a side they had beaten the previous day, Damian Jennings' side failed to take advantage of a strong first period as the Dutch split the two game series.
The partnerships Cardiff University Sport have developed with a range of National Governing Bodies emphasises the ambition to promote and support high level sports performance for both Cardiff University and in the wider community.
