For many, sport is an integral part of the student experience leading to lasting friendships which will be influential long after graduating. Cardiff University Sport appreciates the value of sport and is fully committed to ensuring that this service area continues to prosper.
Our strategic aim is to continue to improve competitive performances whilst at the same time increasing opportunities for people to participate. We intend to do this by building on the established programmes and by continually looking to enhance the sports facilities.
The University has continued to update the existing sports facilities across the three sports sites and at this time a range of additional facility project proposals are being considered.
The old floodlit grass training pitch at Talybont has now been successfully upgraded to a new 3G rubber crumb synthetic training pitch, which was completed in October 2008. The new pitch provides superior outdoor training opportunities, particularly for the rugby and soccer clubs. The hockey clubs will also benefit as more training slots are now available on the original artificial pitch.
Updates on further facility developments will appear here as news emerges.
Cardiff University Sport is also currently actively engaged in the development of the University’s Positive Working Environment programme and anticipates playing a key role in the area of staff wellbeing and health.
