Florence Nightingale Research Scholarships Now Open For Applicants
1 February 2012
The Florence Nightingale Foundation provides research scholarship award funds for nurses and midwives to undertake a course in research methods, research modules or a dissertation/thesis as part of an academic course of study. The Foundation will also consider doctoral studies and post doctoral nursing research projects. The outcome of the research will result in clinical improvement and evidence-based care for patients and clients.
These scholarships are available to all British and Commonwealth nurses and midwives registered with the NMC and working in the UK. They are awarded for projects which will directly benefit patients and the professions more widely.
Research Scholarships provide up to £5,000 for a scholar to undertake a course in research methods, research modules or a dissertation/thesis as part of an academic course of study. The Foundation will also consider post doctoral nursing research projects.
All of these must involve clinically focused research, i.e. must be able to demonstrate impact on patient care and be academically supervised or supported.
Last year the Foundation awarded 31 Research Scholarships, and this year has more funds available to continue to increase the numbers offered.
The Foundation is now accepting applications on their website, where further detail of the criteria for applying can be found.
The closing date for applications is Friday, 18th May 2012.
The Foundation is a living memorial to Florence Nightingale; it raises funds to provide scholarships for nurses and midwives to enable them, through study, to promote innovation in practice, to extend knowledge and skills to meet changing needs, advances the study of nursing and promotes excellence in nursing and midwifery practice.
