Cardiff University is seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer/ Reader who will play a lead role in the development and delivery of innovative, high quality research-led teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.


Working closely with the RCM Professor of Midwifery he/she will enhance the research activity of the School, securing grant income and publications in international journals.  The post holder will be expected to make a valuable contribution to the national and international reputation of the School as a provider of education and research that supports and enhances midwifery and nursing practice and improves patient and client care.

Applications are invited from candidates whose clinical expertise is in Midwifery.  Ideally candidates should have a PhD or be close to completion of Doctoral level studies and should have research likely to be assessed as internationally excellent.  Successful candidates who meet these criteria will be employed on the University Teaching and Research career pathway.


Candidates must have current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and possess relevant up to date clinical expertise in the field of Midwifery.  Candidates will also have a postgraduate NMC teaching qualification or a willingness to undertake a PGCE leading to an NMC recorded qualification.
