Title:
The long-term experiences of (BRACA1 and BRACA2) women who have undergone risk reducing surgery for breast cancer.

Research:
To examine the expectations and experiences of women who are undergoing risk reducing surgery for breast cancer. Specifically it will focus on the small group of BRACA1 and BRACA2 carrier patients, assessed as high risk. Specifically it will examine:
Risk assessment and diagnosis
Decison-making (surgery and reconstruction)
Women's experiences of risk reducing surgery
Body image issues, self-esteem
Sexuality and relationships
Satisfaction with (or not having) reconstructive surgery
Expectations of surgery and reconstruction
