Associate Lecturer role
Aligned to the BSc in Clinical Practice (Diabetes module), teaching and providing academic supervision to students on this module.
Aligned to modules 4 and 5 of the BN program, teaching and providing academic supervision to student nurses.
I teach across various aspects of both the undergraduate and post-graduate programmes.
Personal tutor role to a small group of student nurses on the new BN intake (March 2011).
I also provide academic supervision for students undertaking their dissertations (undergrad).
Clinical Role Substantive Post
Diabetes Specialist Nurse, Cardiff and Vale UHB – based in University Hospital Llandough
Delivers formal education to qualified nurses in Cardiff and Vale UHB regarding diabetes.
Provides advice/education/support to health care professionals, patients and their families, across the primary and secondary care interface regarding the management of diabetes.
Provides education to unqualified nurses on the Health Board’s induction program.
Career Overview
My background is in medical nursing, which includes: gastro-enterology, infectious diseases, endrocrinologly and diabetes. I have been working as a DSN since 2004, before which I was employed as a Ward Manager in Llandough Hospital.
Research activity / interests
Diabetes and long-term conditions. I have a particular interest in cystic fibrosis related diabetes.
