Research
The School’s Research Mission Statement affirms that it will endeavour to produce high quality research relevant to clinical practice and to disseminate high quality research evidence to inform best practice particularly with regard to the professions relating to the School.
To achieve this, the research of the School has been focused around three multi- and cross-disciplinary themes:
- Rehabilitation - measurement of efficacy, progression and outcome of acute and chronic conditions.
- Promoting and maintaining a healthy active lifestyle.
- Evaluation of healthcare service delivery and development of professional practice.
Individual staff research may contribute to more than one of the themes.
The University is committed to rigorous and objective inquiry and supports academics in an environment that affirms academic freedom.
Staff at the School regularly publish their research findings in books and in various highly respected journals in the field.
Research Centres
Research Centre for Clinical Kinaesiology
In April 1999 the School established the Research Centre for Clinical Kinaesiology (RCCK), a movement analysis laboratory for purposes of clinical rehabilitative research.

Healthcare Development Research Unit
The School has recently established the Healthcare Development Research Unit to provide a forum and integrative mechanism for much of the social science style research being carried out by the School.
