'What's on Your Mantlepiece?': Rachel Hurdley's Work Featured on the Today Programme

Dr Rachel Hurdley's work on Mass Observation mantelpiece reports was featured on BBC Radio Four's Today Programme on 2nd July 2012.

During the broadcast Dr Hurdley discusses the changing use of the mantelpiece within the home. Once the focal point of the room with candlesticks, vases, and ornaments; it was also an ongoing 'to-do' list; whereso much paraphernalia of daily life was stored, including those vital communications, the twice- or thrice-daily post. Modern technology, such as television, social media and email, has now infringed on its place, and the use of the mantelpiece has changed - in some respects. For more please follow the links below.
