The Professional Doctorate in Social and Public Policy is a theoretically informed but applied course geared to the needs of policy actors and associated stakeholders. The taught element has a degree of flexibility allowing for student directed choice (which includes an elective on equality of opportunity in the current legislative context as part of a wider suite of options), but the core elements provide important insights into the everyday challenges of public policy administration and into the complexities and possibilities of partnership working. Students are provided with a comprehensive research training which in turn facilitates the doctoral research component; as a policy-based course projects may be driven, for example, by action research or by process or outcome evaluation. The course is an exciting opportunity to engage with cutting edge policy developments and research in one of the leading social science schools in the country.
