Danny Dorling is Professor of Human Geography at the, University of Sheffield.
With a group of colleagues he helped create the website www.worldmapper.org which shows who has most and least in the world.
His recent books include, (With Bethan Thomas in 2007), "Identity in Britain: A cradle-to- grave atlas", (With Anna Barford and Mark Newman in 2008), "The Atlas of the Real World: Mapping the way we live". And, on his own for once (in 2010), "Injustice: why social inequalities persist”. and (out this month in 2011) "So you think you know about Britain".
In 2009 he was appointed a Member of the Academic Reference Group advising Ministers on the Social Mobility White Paper and he has recently worked with the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) looking at who gets to university from where. He is a member of World Health Organization's Scientific Resource Group on Health Equity Analysis and Research and of the advisory group of the Equality Trust.
