Madeleine Bunting is a Guardian columnist and associate editor, and an author. She writes on a wide range of subjects including politics, work, race and ethnicity, science and religion, women, development, community and identity. Her most recent book is 'The Plot: A Biography of an English Acre', published by Granta in 2009.
Phil George is a former executive at BBC Wales, co-founder and co-creative director of Green Bay, a media production company based in Cardiff, and Chair of National Theatre Wales. He presents the BBC Wales radio programme 'Value Judgements' in which he interviews people about what is important to them in their work and their lives.
