'Debating Crime and Community' Professor Gordon Hughes
Starts: 1 February 2008
Professor Gordon Hughes of the Crime and Justice Research Group has been invited to present a plenary talk at the University of Liverpool's Symposium 'Debating Crime and Community' on 1 February 2008.
The title of his talk is 'Translations of "Community" and "Safety" in Contemporary Urban Politics: Sociological and Normative Provocations'. This symposium takes place in the context of Liverpool's much heralded status as 2008 European Capital of Culture and aims to generate critical public debate about 'cultural' regeneration and its criminogenic consequences among academics, policy makers, practitioners and community activists.
