Careers

The Careers Service (5 Corbett Road) is the best place to go to in order to get information or help with careers advice, and they provide one on one support as well as group based workshops. They offer a range of free workshops which are run by careers professionals to help you with things like; application forms, interviews, CV’s, generating ideas for people who don't know what they want to do, and applying for graduate training schemes.
We would recommend everyone to take advantage of this service and make the most of it while you can!

Work Experience
We strongly suggest getting some work experience whilst you're at uni, especially when you are in your first and second years when you are likely to have more free time. It will help you decide what you might like to do as a future career and will look great on your CV! A little tip is to arrange it early! From personal experience, I arranged to work with the Crown Prosecution Service in Cardiff and had to see them about 8 months in advance because of all the crime checks. I also did experience with the dog section in Bridgend and had to organise that months in advance as well because it is so popular and places go quickly!
The careers service can help you with work experience, and so can Ian Jones, SOCSI's Innovation and Engagement officer: jonesdi@cf.ac.uk.
