Ms Louise Madden
Qualifications
Louise is an ESRC funded graduate student in the school of social sciences. Previously she has worked as a research associate on a range of projects in the area of education and computer/internet use.
Research Interests
Louise’s interests are rooted in feminism and psychosocial studies, and include intersections of gender with technology, new approaches to phenomenology, and research methods.
PhD Topic / Area
Her research explores women's use of the internet, how it fits into the everyday, and the production of gender in the detail of internet usage patterns. She's particularly interested in the problem of the internet being treated as disembodied, and investigates how the body is implicated in internet use, and what sort of thing it becomes.
She is interested in methods that highlight how multi-faceted internet use is, operating through texts, bodies, objects, actions and affects.

Adult Learning @ Home Two year project examining adults’ use (and non-use) of information and communications technologies in domestic and community settings and, in particular, exploring the impact of new technologies on individuals’ participation in formal and informal learning.
