  • The rigorous evaluation of complex interventions, and in particular the use of quasi-experimental designs, randomised trials and the combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods;
  • Development and formative evaluation of health promotion interventions;
  • The design, management and analysis of cluster randomised trials, particularly in the pragmatic evaluation of public health interventions;
  • Medical statistics and health services research methods;
  • The epidemiology of health behaviours;
