  • Gender and professional subjectivities of doctors
  • Social, psychological and biological aspects of illness/disease and inequality
  • Medical ontology, critical phenomenology and the embodied self
  • Feminist theories, queer theory, and intersections of sexuality, gender and health

Additional Information

Sara is a Lecturer in the School of Social Sciences. She teaches Medical Sociology and Sociology of Health and Illness, Gender Relations in Society, Social Research Methods and the Specialist Paper in Social Science. 

Sara is co-chair of the Gender and Sexualities Research Group (with Prof Debbie Epstein) and the Medicine and Society Research Interest Group (with Dr Joanna Latimer).

Sara is currently completing an interdisciplinary project on GP Professionalism, Feminisation and Modernisation that brings together research and theory from medical education, education studies, medical sociology and other disciplines in the critical social sciences.

Sara is also currently publishing work on women’s experiential meanings of Chronic Pelvic Pain.
