Research Interests
Kate’s research interests include place, identity, young people, and the interaction between policy, history and place-making. Using qualitative methods, Kate is interested in the ways people come to know places, how they are constructed through different discourses and the ways people who live in them, move through them and visit them are positioned. As part of this, Kate has published on mobile methods, specifically walking, and organised an interdisciplinary workshop, ‘Walking as Method and Practice’ in June 2009.
Current Research
Kate is currently working for the Wales Institute of Social Economic Research Data and Methods (WISERD), where she is involved in a number of research projects, including Sounding the Way: Tell us about your Grangetown.
