Warfare

The history of warfare, from the ancient world to the modern period, represents a key research strength among historians at Cardiff.

Areas of particular focus include Greek warfare; the Roman army and warfare; medicine in ancient sieges; Carthaginian warfare; warrior societies; peace-making and diplomacy in medieval Europe; the Crusades in the Latin East and Cyprus; the Military Orders, their function and depiction; Nazi Germany; the end of the Third Reich.
