Edition of Gender and History

Gender history at Cardiff is a key area of research in the department, covering the ancient, medieval, early modern and modern periods in Britain, Europe and Asia. 

Aspects considered include: gender and domesticity in ancient Greece and Rome; sexuality and gender in Greece and Rome; the eunuch in the Byzantine world; medieval gender, masculinity, and sexuality; the role of women and gender in the Crusades; gender and early medieval slavery; gender and crime; rape and sexual violence in Early Modern England; gender history and women's history in France; women and health in the twentieth century; and gender relations in modern India.
