Research on Asian History
The History department is developing research in south Asian studies, with work covering the political and social history of the British Raj, gender relations and women's contributions in the nationalist movement in India; law, state and society in Modern India; female crime in Indian; communism in China; ethnic Chinese in Europe; Southeast Asia, and Australia, and transnational studies.
