What would you recommend about studying for the MA in Islam in Contemporary Britain at Cardiff?
The MA Islam in Contemporary Britain provides a social science study of Muslims in British society, examining various issues such as identity, islamophobia, education and chaplaincy. I would recommend this programme of study for those who desire a professional career in research, be it in the academic field or the third sector (including NGOs). Of course, it is also suitable for those who simply have an interest in the subject. The MA really focuses on people (Muslims), not Islam as a religion.

What are you enjoying most about your course?
I enjoy the fact that the MA touches on a diversity of topics and viewpoints. I also enjoy that I can enhance my research through access to a wide range of sources, from books and articles to movies.

What is the best thing being a student at Cardiff?
I really appreciate the opportunities to attend conferences and exhibitions relevant to my research.

What opportunities do you feel have opened up to you as a result of being a Cardiff University Jameel Scholar?
Being a Jameel Scholar has been notably beneficial for networking, as I meet people from different professional backgrounds (chaplains, academics, etc.). Moreover, I have got a glimpse of what it is to work as an academic researcher and I understand better what it entails in terms of responsibilities.

I would recommend this programme of study for those who desire a professional career in research, be it in the academic field or the third sector (including NGOs)
