Pathways and Fees Structure

There are a number of different ways of doing the MA/Diploma in 'Islam in Contemporary Britain. You may choose to do the MA, rather than the Diploma (or vice versa). You also need to decide whether to study full-time or part-time. This page gives you the information about the different options:

1. Full-time Masters course

This involves 1 full-time academic year of study (taught modules 1,2,3, plus a dissertation during the summer vacation). You would undertake up to 10 hours of teaching per week in the Autumn Semester, and up to 6 hours of teaching in the Spring Semester. The dissertation would be undertaken via independent research between June and September, supervised by the Course Director.

2. Part-time Masters course

This involves 2 academic years of study (taught modules 1,2,3, plus a dissertation written during the second academic year). You would undertake up to 10 hours of teaching per week in the Autumn Semester and up to 6 hours of teaching in the Spring Semester, of Year 1. Your dissertation, written during year 2, would be undertaken via independent research, supervised by the Course Director.

3. Diploma course

This course enables a flexible approach to your learning. You take modules at your own pace, and you can complete the course during 1 academic year, or over the course of 3 years. It is possible to 'upgrade' to the MA, upon satisfactorily completing the Diploma. Please contact us for more information.
