Research in Greek History
Several members of staff work on Greek history from the Archaic period through to the Hellenistic, with a wide range of interests, including social institutions, political structures, moral values, religion, economy, law and material culture. Current research areas include:
- Greek (especially Attic) epigraphy
- Greek warfare
- Greek medicine and science
- Athenian citizenship and religion
- fourth-century Athens
- Greek housing from the Early Iron Age to the Hellenistic period
- the history of Sicily, especially Syracuse
- Classical and Hellenistic mosaics
