script and a limited amount of further grammar.

Necessary for: All Part Two Sanskrit and Pali courses
Aims
The aim of this module is to introduce the student to the general structure and style
of the Sanskrit language, to a range of vocabulary, some basic grammar and the
characters of the devanagari script. The module is designed to prepare
students for reading original texts in the follow up modules under the guidance of a
teacher.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course you should be able to:
- Translate simple Sanskrit sentences into English
- Recognise, be able to reproduce and explain a variety of grammatical forms and syntax
- Recognise and use a range of Sanskrit vocabulary.
