The Global Economy 1944-2000 - 20 credits (HST886)

This module studies the development of the international economy since World War Two. It examines the attempts of the USA to build a world economy founded on the principles of non-discrimination and the resistance to this project by from national governments in the industrialised and developing world. It also explores the development of multinational enterprise in the decades after 1950 and the concept of globalization, which it locates within its historical context.
