Map-reading for Historians: using cartographical tools - 10 credits (HST800)

There is a tendency on the part of some British historians to use cartographical tools as, at best, an after-thought to research and analysis. In many Continental traditions, cartographical tools have traditionally been given much greater prominence. Familiarity with the underlying approaches, the potential and the pitfalls, is of obvious relevance to anyone with an interest in Modern European history.
