Professor Loach is an architectural and cultural historian whose research has led her to spend much time in provincial French archives and libraries, primarily working on how buildings (especially ephemeral ones) were designed, executed and decorated in the seventeenth century. She is currently completing a critical edition of a course devised for artisans, derived from five variant manuscripts, two being students' dictated notes. She has also undertaken research into twentieth century French architecture, mainly in the Fondation Le Corbusier, and into railway architecture, in a range of British archives. She has a full editorial team in Architectural History.
