Cardiff University ID Cards
Information for Staff and Students
The Cardiff University ID Card is a multi-purpose card which you will need throughout your time at Cardiff. All staff and students are required to carry the card when on University premises and to produce it in a situation where it is necessary to check identity. It is also your library card and for many people it is an access control card. Although there is no initial charge for this card, we do levy a charge (currently £10.00) for the replacement of lost cards.
Cardiff University ID cards are produced at the Security Centre daily between 9.00am and 4.30pm, excluding weekends, bank holidays and University holidays. The issuing workstations are occasionally taken out of action for essential maintenance for short periods of time. If you are making a special trip to obtain a card, you may wish to call our reception on the telephone number below before setting out. The process takes just a few minutes and a digital photograph is printed on the card.
For new students, information about collecting this card can be found in the enrolment guide or by visiting http://www.cardiff.ac.uk/regis/enrolment/index.html

Many of the University’s buildings and car parks have doors/barriers which are controlled by proximity readers. The current Cardiff University ID card has a chip embedded in the card, so that the card can be used with the readers for authorised users.
