The Head of Security & Portering Services is supported by the Security Operations Manager and the Services Manager, with the assistance of 9 support/clerical staff. Operations are divided between ‘Security Services’ and ‘Portering Services’.

‘Security Services’ consists of 5 security shifts, 4 of which with a Supervisor and a team of 12 Campus Patrol Officers who operate on a continuous shift pattern to provide cover for the University and University Residences, the remaining shift of 6 staff provides additional cover during busy periods and events.

- ‘Portering Services’ are managed by the Services Manager and supervised by the Portering Coordinator. The Porters assist in a number of different capacities across the campus, including Building Porters, Manual Handling services and Postal Services. - The General Portering team are responsible for routine moves of small furniture, desks, chairs, computers, books, equipment, etc. They also undertake tasks of collection and disposal of confidential waste.
