Transcripts

Registry will issue each graduate of a modular undergraduate programme of study with a transcript. A transcript will also be issued to each undergraduate student who withdraws from University, provided the student was registered on a modular programme of study and completed assessment in at least one module. In both cases, one copy of the transcript will be issued automatically. Students who have completed a period of study at Cardiff within a non modular framework will be provided with one copy of a transcript, on request.

What information will the transcript contain?

If you pursued a modular programme of study, the transcript will include:

  • the title of the programme you were registered on at the time of completion/withdrawal;
  • each module you were assessed in;
  • the marks achieved following each attempt in all modules taken;
  • the credit value obtained as a result of assessment in each module.

If you pursued a programme of study under a non modular structure, the transcript will include:

  • the title of the programme you were registered on at the time of completion/withdrawal;
  • the subject area studied each academic year;
  • your progress at the end of each academic year.

Non-modular transcripts will not include marks obtained at assessment. Your academic School will provide this information, on request.

When will the transcript be issued?

If you graduate from a modular programme, the transcript will be mailed to your declared home (vacation) address automatically in August if you successfully completed assessment in the Spring Semester Assessment Period, or November if you successfully completed assessment in the Resit Assessment Period.

If you withdraw from a modular scheme prior to completion, a transcript will be mailed to your declared home (vacation) address no later than ten days after Academic Registry has been notified of your withdrawal.

Transcripts will be issued to students who completed or withdrew from non modular programme of study, or on written request. Any transcript produced as a result of a direct request will be ready no later than ten days from the date it was requested. This type of transcript may be collected in person from Registry Reception during normal opening hours or posted to the specified address.

How many copies of the transcript will I receive?

One copy. Duplicates will only be issued, on request, for a fee of £10.00 each.

Can I have a transcript outlining my progress whilst I am still attending the course?

No. A transcript will only be issued on completion of a programme of study or withdrawal from the University. The examination result letter, issued at the end of each academic year, should be used to verify progress whilst still in attendance. Copies of these letters may be obtained from Registry, on request.

If I fail to graduate, will I be eligible to receive any award other than a transcript?

Senate Regulations for Modular Undergraduate Degrees make provision for the award of a Certificate or Diploma of Higher Education to students who fail to successfully complete their studies. The regulations stipulate the conditions that must be fulfilled in order to become eligible for the award of either the Certificate or Diploma.

If you are eligible for the award of either the Certificate or Diploma of Higher Education, it will be issued automatically, with the transcript.

If you pursued a programme of study under a non-modular structure and you failed to successfully complete your degree you will not be eligible for any preliminary award.
