Annual Monitoring of Postgraduate Research Activity
The process of Annual Review and Evaluation of Postgraduate Research Activity (ARE) involves the submission of a report by each School Board for consideration by a Sub-Committee of the Academic Standards and Quality Committee. The report represents the culmination of a process to which relevant staff and student groups have contributed. A proforma approach underpins the process, designed to ensure that a consistent approach is operated by Schools and by the University.
Each School is required to undertake ARE in respect of all the research degree programmes to which it admits students - PhD, MPhil, Professional Doctorate, MD, etc., - and in respect of both full-time and part-time students.
