Politics

BA students intending to read for Joint Honours degrees in Politics must take two introductory Year One modules. These are: EU9199 Introduction to Government (Semester 1) and EU9196 Introduction to Political Thought (Semester 2). Modules EU9198 Introduction to European Integration (Semester 1), EU9197 Introduction to Globalisation (Semester 1), EU9195 Introduction to International Relations (Semester 2) and EU9194 Introduction to Political Science (Semester 2) are optional modules.

BScEcon students intending to read for Joint Honours degrees in Politics must take three introductory Year One modules. EU9199 Introduction to Government (Semester 1) and EU9196 Introduction to Political Thought (Semester 2) are compulsory modules. While modules EU9198 Introduction to European Integration (Semester 1), EU9197 Introduction to Globalisation (Semester 1), EU9195 Introduction to International Relations (Semester 2) and EU9194 Introduction to Political Science (Semester 2) are optional modules.

BScEcon students intending to read for single Honours degree in Politics must take four introductory Year One modules. These are EU9199 Introduction to Government (Semester 1), EU9198 Introduction to European Integration (Semester 1), EU9196 Introduction to Political Thought (Semester 2) and EU9195 Introduction to International Relations (Semester 2). EU9197 Introduction to Globalisation (Semester 1) and EU9194 Introduction to Political Science (Semester 2) are optional modules.

BScEcon International Relations and Politics and BScEcon International Relations and Politics (with a language) students must take four introductory Year One modules. These are EU9199 Introduction to Government (Semester 1), EU9198 Introduction to European Integration (Semester 1), EU9196 Introduction to Political Thought (Semester 2) and EU9195 Introduction to International Relations (Semester 2). EU9197 Introduction to Globalisation (Semester 1) and EU9194 Introduction to Political Science (Semester 2) are optional modules. 

N.B. For studying Politics, there are no special entry requirements other than the need for three good 'A' level grades. BA or BScEcon students intending to study other degree programmes in the second and final years but who wish to take Politics in year one must have a good A-level (normally a B) in a relevant subject e.g. History, Law or Economics.

ACCESS students wishing to take a Politics option in Year One should contact Politics Programme Director in the Cardiff School of European Languages, Translation and Politics.
