Language is available as an additional subject to all First Year Humanities and Social Studies students, and no special previous qualifications are required. However, timetable restrictions apply, and therefore the subject cannot be taken together with Ancient History, Economics or Theological Studies. Language is an excellent complementary subject to the study of a particular language, or literature of a language (e.g. Welsh, English, or a European Studies subject, Education, Sociology or Philosophy).
This subject is compulsory for the degrees in English Language, English Language and Communication and Joint Honours English Language. Students of English Language and English Language and Communication also take Communication plus a third subject.
All students take both double (20 credit) modules.
