Research Projects
The following is a list of research projects currently being conducted through the RI. For publications, please see our publications page.
The Equality and Diversity Learning in the European Steel Industry project is funded under the Leonardo da Vinci Community Action Vocational Training programme. The aim of the project is to explore change in the steel industry workforce profile and the equality and diversity implications that might result from such developments. The data from the research is to be used to develop Equality Awareness training materials and briefing papers for the industry and industry stakeholders. The Regen School Wales evaluation was commissioned by the DTA Wales and the Coalfields Regeneration Trust in order to evaluate the pilot programme of the Regen School Wales. This school is a unique scheme that develops a practitioner learning network and a ‘toolkit’ for regeneration. The purpose of the evaluation was in-order to enhance the scheme for the following year, and was completed through a series of surveys, telephone interviews and focus groups. Joseph Rowntree Foundation: ‘Second generation: the impacts of housing stock transfer in urban Britain’
This study, funded by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, sees the Regeneration Institute work in collaboration with partners at Heriot-Watt University (led by Prof. Hal Pawson) to explore the impacts of the second generation of housing stock transfer. This is being conducted through a national survey of housing associations and in-depth case study work in 10 locations. Spiritual Capital
Spiritual Capital sees the Regeneration Institute working in conjunction with Public Trust Partnership (led by Roy J. Thomas) exploring the role of faith and cultural communities in Cardiff. This research, funded by Community Development Foundation, will produce a directory of religious organisation in Cardiff. The project will also a publish a report based on the findings of a city-wide survey and ten case studies, that will highlight the relationship between faith communities, Cardiff as a capital city and local government. Spiritual Capital will culminate in a landmark conference that will bring together religious leaders, government officials, academics, other experts and the broader community to discuss the issues raised by the project.
