Cardiff Research Initiative Fund

Distinguished Lecture Series 2012/13 - call for proposals

The high-profile Cardiff University Distinguished Lecture Series was launched as part of an initiative to raise the profile of research at Cardiff University with the international academic community.  Following the great success of the 2011/12 series, it is with great pleasure that I can confirm the launch another series of lectures for 2012/13.

Academic schools are invited to apply to the Distinguished Lecture Series fund which is available through the University’s Strategic Investment funds.  A fund of £25K is available for session 2012/ 13 from which we hope to support up to four lectures which are broadly focused on the following four subject areas: Biomedical and Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences and Arts and Humanities (loosely based upon the four main REF panels and reflecting the breadth of Cardiff’s research).  I would like to encourage colleagues to give some serious thought to identifying potential world-leading speakers. The outstanding credentials of the speaker will be a key parameter in selection. This is an opportunity to bring opinion leaders to Cardiff University, to introduce them to the world-leading work that we undertake here and to establish long-lasting relationships with them.

The deadline for applications is 5pm Monday 26th November 2012.

Applicants are encouraged to liaise with their relevant College Research Dean (Professors Malcolm Mason , Roger Whitaker , Rick Delbridge and Justin Lewis ) so that applications can be filtered at a college level.
