To examine the economic viability of the routine collection of quality of life data and its usefulness in clinical decision making and predicting outcomes
To examine ethical issues related to the use of quality of life information in healthcare resource allocation Development of quality of life instruments
To carry out innovative research in the development and application of methodology for measuring the impact that pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical interventions have on health related quality of life
To develop novel techniques for electronically capturing the impact of interventions on patients' health related quality of life and functional behaviour

Advice

To provide advice on the suitability of quality of life and economic measures to be incorporated into clinical studies
To disseminate the research findings of the Centre to relevant government and private enterprises through regular bulletins, scientific journals, books and the media

Education and training

To provide education and training in socioeconomics through the organisation of structured course
To provide an international perspective on the safe, effective and economic use of medicines

Creation of a global resource base

To create a world-wide network and resource base to facilitate access to quality of life and economic research
