The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Research Ethics Committee

Students working in a Pharmacy.

Who are we?

The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Research Ethics Committee is Chaired by the Research Ethics Officer, and consists of eight members of the School, a member of the University and a Lay member.

What do we do?

The Committee meets several times a year to review projects to be carried out in the School (or by members of staff of the School) on non-clinical research involving human participants, human material or human data.

This includes projects concerning non-clinical research, service evaluations and audits which have not previously been reviewed by the University Ethics Panel, NHS Research Ethics Committee or another formal ethics panel.

The Supervisor or Principal Investigator of the project is required to submit a completed proforma the to Committee through the Secretary. An ethical review will be completed and, once a favourable ethical opinion has been granted, data collection for the project can begin.
