In the latest phase of implementing a collaborative undergraduate pharmacy degree course in Taylor's University in Malaysia, Mr Pradeep Nair, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Taylor's University, Prof Salmiah Mohd Ali, Dean at Taylor's University School of Pharmacy (TUSoP), together with two new staff members, Ms Lyna Irawati,  and Mr Selvaraja Seerangam, recently visited Cardiff.

This was the first visit to Cardiff of the new Dean and she and Mr Pradeep held high level discussions within the University, including a meeting with Cardiff's Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Elizabeth Treasure.  These discussions explored opportunities for further collaboration for post-graduate education and research, both with Cardiff's School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and other schools.

It was also reported that the Malaysian Qualifications Agency and the Malaysian Pharmacy Board has approved increasing the student intake at Taylor's to 100 from September 2012.

 Cardiff University and Taylor's University  are working towards full accreditation of this collaborative MPharm  with both the General Pharmaceutical Council in UK and the State Malaysian Pharmacy Board. 

N.B. The existing MPharm taken by students at Cardiff University is fully accredited in the UK.  The Welsh School of Pharmacy has been an accredited course provider since the 1930's.
