Prestigious E.U. grant for a consortium centred on the Welsh School of Pharmacy

Wales-Ireland industry-academia partnership in smart drug delivery fits government vision and promises improved therapies.
The HIPODERM project, a collaboration between two Welsh and two Irish organisations, has been awarded €838,363 by EU Framework Programme 7. This is the first time that Cardiff University has been successful in the prestigious FP7 Marie Curie Industry Academia Partnerships and Pathways scheme.
The four-year project combines expertise from the
Welsh School of Pharmacy, Cardiff University (Dr Chris Allender,),
An-eX Analytical Services (Dr Keith Brain),
Pharmaceutical & Molecular Biotechnology Research Centre, Waterford Institute of Technology (Dr Peter McLoughlin,) and
EirGen Pharma (Dr Tom Brennan)
in the development of smart topical high-potency formulations and delivery systems for enhanced therapies aimed at intractable dermatological conditions.
