Five Welsh School of Pharmacy students, who were awarded Summer placements under the 2011 Cardiff Undergraduate Research Opportunity Programme  (CUROP) presented posters at the recent exhibition in the Viriamu Jones Gallery in the Main Building of the University on Monday 21 November.

The five students and their projects were:

Aoife Flannagan (now MPharm IV)  'The effect of caveolin-1 siRNA on beta-amyloid and its involvement in Alzheimer's disease', supervised by Dr Emma Kidd

Mui Tan (MPharm III) 'Analysing the cell uptake of nanomedicines targeting Tuberculosis in human macrophages', supervised by Dr Arwyn Jones.  (This was a collaboration between WSOP and the University of Pretoria S Africa)

Andrew Lim  'Design and synthesis of novel MetRS inhibitors as potential Clostridium difficile therapeutics', supervised by Dr Claire Simons

Carys Howell (current MPharm4) 'Synthesis of an aminoindane legal high product as analytical standard', supervised by Dr Andy Westwell.

Jiun Lung Lee (now Mpharm III)  'Synthesis of Novel Anti-CHKV compounds', supervised by Dr Andrea Brancale.
