Professor Gary Baxter, Head of the Welsh School of Pharmacy, received the Naranjan Dhalla award of the International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences at its recent world congress in India, held at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara, Gujarat, 1-6 February 2011.
The Dhalla award is conferred for "Innovative Investigations in Cardiovascular Sciences". There have been only six previous recipients of this award worldwide.

Professor Baxter was invited to give the opening plenary lecture entitled "Cardiac Peptides in Myocardial Ischaemia-Reperfusion Injury".
