A leading undergraduate textbook in its field, Pharmaceutical Microbiology is now in its 8th edition, having been continuously associated with the Welsh School of Pharmacy since its first publication in 1977. It carries the names of the original editors, W.B. Hugo (Nottingham) and A.D. Russell (Cardiff) in recognition of their original idea and contributions to the field. In this current edition, the book has grown yet again, reflecting advances in knowledge and the sustained relevance of microbiology to pharmacy. It continues to develop the theme of recent editions, strengthening the connection between the basic sciences and clinical practice with an increased emphasis on pathogens and the host response, prescribing therapeutics and public health microbiology.
