Huntington's disease: pathogenesis and therapeutic targets

BSc in biochemistry from Cardiff (85) PhD with John Harwood in Biosciences on lipid metabolism in seaweed (awarded 1990), then postdocs working on amoebae and crop plants at CU until I moved to the then College of Medicine in Cardiff having decided that as I wasn't geographically mobile I would have to be scientifically mobile and there was more funding in medicine - and a cell is a cell. I took an MRC funded post to work on HD immediately after the gene and its mutation was cloned in 1994 and have been working on HD ever since, although I now also contribute to work on other neurodegenerations and have a strong interest in the control of gene expression and its effects on behaviour and learning
