The School currently has four research groups: Biomedical Imaging, Cell and Molecular Biology, Clinical and Investigative Vision Sciences and Structural Biophysics.

Research Ethics

Research Ethics

All research (including audit / service evaluation) involving human subjects or human tissue, that takes place within the School and/or is conducted by members of the School, is subject to scrutiny by the School’s Research / Audit Ethics Committee.

Research Units

A dynamic retinoscopy being performed on a child with Down's Syndrome.

There are three research units based at the School: The Down's Syndrome Vision Research Unit, The Contact Lens Unit, Anterior Eye Research Unit (CLAER) & The Research Unit for Nystagmus (RUN).


Cornea to Cortex Research Seminar

'Cornea to Cortex' is a well established series of research seminars hosted by the School of Optometry and Vision Sciences at Cardiff University. These seminars usually take place on Wednesday lunchtimes.
