Wales’ first Chief Scientific Adviser is set to reveal his vision of the future of science in Wales during a public lecture at Cardiff University.
With science and technology being seen as vital in developing and building the future R&D, economy and prosperity of Wales, Professor John Harries will use his lecture to reflect on the challenges, expectations and hopes for science in Wales.
Among the topics he will cover are the achievements and revision of the Science Policy for Wales, the reorganisation of higher education, the role of science in Wales’ Economic Renewal Plan, and the National Science Academy which aims to secure scientific capabilities for Wales.The Future of Science in Wales lecture takes place on Wednesday 2 February 2011 at 6.30pm (with a drinks reception from 6pm) in Cardiff University’s Bute Building, King Edward VII Avenue, Cardiff.
The lecture is supported by Cardiff University and the South Wales branch of the British Science Association. Attendance is free and open to all but places must be booked in advance. To secure your place, email nevilleevans@totalise.co.uk.
